Challenge yourself and do something amazing for Hospice of the Valleys this October 

The Cardiff University / Cardiff Half Marathon is back on Sunday 7th October 2018. The event has grown into one of the largest road races in the United Kingdom and encompasses many of Cardiff’s most iconic landmarks, beautiful scenery and historic buildings. The course if flat and fast making it ideal for beginners and elites.

As the general entry for Cardiff Half Marathon has sold out we are delighted to announce we have 10 charity spaces available for this year’s event and we would love to have you join our team. Help us by fundraising to continue to provide the exceptional care and support to patients and their families who need it most in Blaenau Gwent. In return for a free space we ask that you aim to reach £200 in sponsorship and of course you don’t have to stop there! We will support you every step of the way with your fundraising. If you’ve already signed up take part in 2018 then we would love to hear from you and can begin supporting you right away.

As part of Team Hospice of the Valleys you will receive;

  • Your free personalised technical running vest or t-shirt,
  • Support from a dedicated fundraising team member with hints and tips to maximise your fundraising,
  • Regular communications and a good luck video prior to the event,
  • Half Marathon training and preparation plan,
  • Support to contact and join a local Park Run Group,
  • Access to the Hospice of the Valleys central campaign on Just Giving,
  • An invitation to view the building and an overview of the services we provide, where your money will be going
  • And of course supporting you on the day with a cheer station and group selfie before the start.

 

Reasons to do it…

There are many reasons to run the Cardiff Half Marathon for Hospice of the Valleys – whether it’s in memory of a loved one, because you, a family or friend has received support from the Hospice, to push and challenge yourself or simply because you need somewhere to wear your costume…What are you waiting for?

The minimum age for our charity place is 18 years old on the event day.

The Big Hospice ‘Par-Tea’

Celebrate the summer with a Big Hospice ‘Par-Tea’! Get together with family, friends or colleagues between June and August and a host a tea party (or any kind of party you like) in support of your local Hospice. All you have to do is decide what kind of party you want to host (see below for some inspiration), tell everyone you know all about it and have a great time all while raising money for a worthy cause.

Getting your money to us
After your event (and after you’ve had a well-earned rest) all you have to do is contact a member of the fundraising team using the details opposite and we can arrange the most convenient way of paying in your money, whether that’s popping into our office, sending a cheque or making a donation online – it’s completely up to you!

Registration now Open….Calling all Superheroes! Hospice of the Valleys needs you to take on the KAPOW Superhero Challenge. 

Date: Saturday 8th September 2018

What’s Involved?

For the first time ever we’re bringing a large-scale event to Blaenau Gwent and the South Wales Valleys and encourage everyone to unleash their alter-ego at our brand new Hospice of the Valleys KAPOW Superhero Challenge!

A 5k run, walk or crawl over, through or around giant inflatable obstacles and surprises.  Taking in the scenery of Parc Bryn Bach whilst harnessing your superhero powers.  Perfect for friends, families and groups, our little superheroes can get involved too. Fancy dress is highly encouraged to boost your superhero powers and looks great on camera.

 So ditch the suit and uniform and let out your inner superhero…we’re waiting for you!

  • Who’s your hospice hero? A great way to raise funds for the Hospice of the Valleys to continue to provide the dedicated, exceptional care the clinical team does.
  • Take on the Dip n Duck, the Alternator, the Biff Bash, and the Mangle!
  • Slides, mazes, tunnels and so much more.
  • There is no age restriction; however you must be at least 1.2metres tall.
  • All under 16s must be accompanied by a paying adult.
