Many companies from across Blaenau Gwent and further afield choose to adopt the Hospice of the Valleys as their charity partner for a year or sometimes more.
We are very grateful to the following companies for electing to support the Hospice – the money they raise for us is an essential source of funding for our services.
Lots of companies also support us by donating the 5ps they receive from the sale of carrier bags – if you would like a tin to do this, please contact us.
As a sponsor, your company or business would receive positive exposure via various media methods – and you and your staff have the opportunity to become involved with your local community through the work of the Hospice.
So if you or your company are considering choosing the Hospice of the Valleys as your charity of the year, or would like to support us in any way, or become one of our ‘hospice beacons’ then we would really like to hear from you – please call the fundraising department on 01495 717277.
Some companies already supporting us at the moment include:
Volunteers from Barclays help organise our annual Bonfire Night tea and cake stall at Tredegar Rugby Ground, and always receive match funding for the money they raise. Many staff also take part in our Hospice fundraising events and also apply for match funding from Barclays.
Volunteers from British Gas have helped us move into a new shop in Abertillery, as well as helping out at our Bonfire Night Event by making cakes and at our stall at the Christmas lights switch-on in Tredegar in 2015. They are also able to receive match-funding for the fundraising they do for the Hospice.
Bryn Meadows Golf Club
This year’s Captain Tim Lewis has chosen the Hospice as his charity for the year and is currently fundraising for us.
Staff from Carillion have done a fantastic job of supporting the Hospice since the start of a two-year partnership in June. They have created a wonderful garden, from a small overgrown area, outside our day centre in Ebbw Vale which was completed in July and well-used and enjoyed by our patients.
They have also carried out a huge amount of refurbishment and decorative work in our chain of charity shops recently, supplying all the materials through themselves or their supply chain.
Circuit of Wales
The Hospice is the Circuit of Wales’ chosen lead charity partner in the community. Selected by Heads of the Valleys Development Company, the team behind Circuit of Wales, the Hospice will benefit from its assistance, and once the racetrack is operational, a number of fundraising events could take place there. Jonathan Jones, head of recruitment and training for Circuit of Wales, said: ‘Hospice of the Valleys cares for more than 500 people a year and makes a hugely positive contribution to the community that should be commended. ‘We are delighted to be able to assist them in their crucial work and look forward to a long and positive relationship that will help them grow within the community to reach more people and their families.’
Family Vision and Finance Commercial Street, Tredegar
Adopted us as their Charity of the Year, and through a sponsored climb of Pen y Fan earlier this year they raised more than £1,500 which has been used to equip our new patients’ garden with furniture, plants, water features and tools.
Gap Outlet Festival Park
Supporting the Hospice this year, by selling merchandise and having collecting tins and raffles in their store. They are also holding an event at Ebbw Vale Institute in May in support of the Hospice and some staff are taking part in our Hospice team in the 5k Gung-HO! obstacle race in Cardiff.
Mel Morgan Sports
Support us regularly by sponsoring our Lap the Lake event each year and collecting 5ps for the sale of carrier bags at the shop.
Recently supported us by kindly sponsoring a race and buying several hospitality tickets for our Chepstow Racecourse charity day. The company also helped us to raise £1,400 with our street party to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday in the area outside the Hospice and Tradeteam offices in June.
Western Medical Supplies
Also recently supported us, sponsoring a race at Chepstow Racecourse for our charity day on April 29.
More than 180 local businesses and organisations across Blaenau Gwent have signed up as Hospice beacons.
The beacons display a certificate about the hospice in their shops, and a pack of publicity information to promote the Hospice services, and fundraising events, in their premises.
Thank you to everyone who has signed up so far. If you own a business and would like to become a hospice beacon, please telephone the fundraising department on 01495 717277.
