Dry January is quickly becoming a popular resolution among those looking to improve their health and save some money at the start of a new year. It’s a campaign through which people give up booze for one month while also driving a conversation about alcohol: why do we drink it, what does it do, and how can we reduce the harm it can cause?
Last year, 5 million people in the UK went dry for January – that’s 1 in 6 people!
People who have tried Dry January report benefits including better sleep, weight loss, improved concentration and money saved – what better way to start the new year? It’s also a great way to raise money for Hospice of the Valleys. Your support helps people living with life limiting illnesses make every moment matter.
Taking part is simple, all you have to do is:
– Ask your friends and family to sponsor you (you can contact us for a sponsor form or set up a ‘Just Giving’ page by clicking this link https://www.justgiving.com/ )
-Or simply donate the money you normally would have spent during the month of January on alcohol
Any money raised for the Hospice will go a long way towards supporting people facing life-limiting illness, for example:
-£20.75 would pay for an hour of specialist nursing care in a patient’s own home
-£40.59 would cover the cosy of a tailor made package of complimentary therapy to support patients in coping with their symptoms, anxiety and stress.
-£77.76 would contribute towards the cost of a Health Care Assistant caring for a patient overnight in their own home, so they can remain with their family and loved ones.
We have a friendly fundraising team available to provide any additional support or information you may need so feel free to give us a call (01495 717277) or drop us a line (email@example.com) – we’ll be with you drop for drop!
