Some people associate the term “hospice” with a building, but “hospice care” is not just a building, it is a way of caring for people who have a life-limiting diagnosis; it is an approach that improves the quality of life for patients and their families facing the problems associated with life-limiting illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering.
As a community service Hospice of the Valleys is able to provide all elements of its specialist support in the patient’s normal place of residence including:
- in the patients home or regular place of residence e.g. nursing home
- in the local community hospitals, Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan and Ysbyty Tri Chwm
- via Day Centre facilities based in the Hospice Centre, Ebbw Vale
